Arthur Lismer (Canadian, 1885β1969) Sunlight in a Wood, 1930 In 1913 Group of Seven artist Arthur Lismer went on his first painting trip to Georgian Bay, which he called βa paradise for painters.β The experience of northern Ontarioβs backcountry forged in Lismer a communion with the constancy of nature. His best-known works in oil are wilderness landscapes, expressionist in style with a use of raw color and simplified formβas exemplified in this 1,000-piece puzzle.
